Ok, I’ll admit it. I’m not a big shoe person. Yes, I love shoes, and I have some cute pairs….but I’m a bag girl. Always have been. So when it came time to find shoes for Charlie, I had NO clue where to start. I have figured out that just guessing how big her feet are is probably not the best policy.
She has worn some sweet hand-me-down’s from her cousin Dali (one pair of which is the infamous red patent leather mary jane’s), and has some sandals to look forward to wearing this summer, but when faced with the transition into walking, I just wanted to find something sturdy and simple. I used a gift certificate from Piperlime and bought her said Stride Rite’s that I now find out are too big and too wide for her petite feet.
We decided to forgoe Aquababies today (she still has that cough and runny nose) and piled in the car to find an actual shoe STORE that we could have her measured and fitted with the right shoe. We found an awesome place on Irving Park Rd. called Tippy Toes. I would highly recommend it! The store manager was so helpful, and knew exactly the pair that would be perfect for Charlie. Did you know that babies’ heels develop over time and they need extra support so that their feet don’t turn in when they walk? I didn’t! I was also happy to hear she would be carrying some sweet sandals for when the warmer weather finally arrives.
So, here is a pic of her new Stride Rite’s, which might look a little orthopedic but sparkly and fun nonetheless. Check out Tippy Toes at www.tippytoesonline.com!
I’m so glad you found a solution!! Now that Addie’s cruising around the tables and couch, we’re about to find ourselves doing the same thing:-)
What size did Charlie end up wearing?
