Gotta Love that Oilily

Aah, the piece de resistance. You know that Mommy is bored and housebound when she starts doing fashion shows. We’ve had these little pants for awhile now and loved them, so when I found the “Sovie” jumper (that goes with) on eBay for a great price, I knew I couldn’t let it go. And now it’s so easy to see why:

Wally World

Somebody PLEASE build a big, beautiful Walmart within driving distance from us? The only one relatively close by is incredibly overcrowded and dirty. Only in the suburbs and at home am I able to wander through all this megastore has to offer. Call me crazy, but they have really cute, practical clothes for kids! Ever heard of Garanimals? (That’s a shout-out to you, Ms. Marla!) I snagged Charlie a few t-shirt’s and leggings for the bargain price of $3.50 each. And, may I say, ONLY on a baby is it ok to wear leggings THIS tight. Ooops. Maybe I should have bought the next size up….

Senior Picture

This picture really made me laugh. Mimi has a giraffe, and we got Charlie to pose with it. Doesn’t it look like a senior picture? Now all she needs is a little jean jacket so we can pop the collar up…. (That’s a shout-out to my Baylor girls and the pictures our moms submitted for the Freshman Scamual, ahem, Annual)

The Next Paula Deen

We’re home, thank goodness! I definitely felt your prayers as the last row of seats on the plane was totally empty. Charlie hated being held during take-off and landing, but the rest of the time she was so happy to have some room to stretch out. I’m sure the couple I was supposed to sit by were happy as well, ha! Unfortunately, I am still battling this cold/cough, so we are laying low this week. I thought this might be a perfect chance to post some pics I hadn’t had a chance to yet…

…like these of Charlie playing with Kelly’s kitchen at Ms. Marla’s! She was obsessed with opening and closing all the doors and cupboards and busied herself with it for what seemed like forever!! There are so many kitchens to choose from out there (Mimi and I went for a look the other day) but our main problem will be space. We may have to wait to buy her a larger kitchen like this one until we move. I know she will love it, though!!!!!

A Not So Happy Valentine’s Day

I had all sorts of plans for today. Mimi and I were going to a baby shower for our dear friend Casey’s little boy-to-be in the morning, and then had some errands to run, as well as attempting to get some cute Valentine’s Day shots of Charlie. I had a little bit of a scratchy throat last night, but didn’t think much of it until I woke up with a full-blown uber-cold.

Luckily, Poppy offered to run her gift over to her so it wasn’t a total loss, but I am so bummed to have missed the shower. I do love baby showers so much and hate that I wasn’t there to help celebrate!! Poor Mimi, who at this point is just exhausted, took care of Charlie all day as I rotated from the couch to the bed, my head feeling like it’s the size of a watermelon.

Please pray for Charlie and I as we travel home on Tuesday. I am dreading the whole flying experience and with the added stress of not having a driver’s license it will take me longer to get through security. Of course I had to remove her shoes the last time as well, as if I would hide a bomb in my 17 month old’s Stride Rites. Pray that we will have kind people in our path. I am totally not above flat out asking for a TSA or cop-type person to help me get all the gear through security.

I am hoping I feel better by then, as I would hate the last few days of our visit to be clouded by sickness. I’m not sure where this came from, but trust me, it is a PAIN. We have had a wonderful trip, but I am anxious to get home and get back to our routine. Charlie has 3 more weeks of Aquababies, and another round starting after that. I am so excited to have fun things for us to do this spring/summer.

I don’t know if they have “Mom’s Day Out” in Chicago….if they do I’m sure it is VERY expensive….but after seeing Kelly and Dali in their little classes I am just so anxious to have that kind of set-up for Charlie. We are so blessed to have so many friends who have kids the same age, so luckily, Charlie is never lacking in companionship…however, it’s so much fun to see the little ones celebrating Valentine’s Day and sending them off to class with their little backpacks and snacks.

As time goes on, and Charlie gets older, I find myself longing for these little “comforts” of life that I never dreamed I would want. A home of our own, a backyard, hosting Super Bowl parties and Easter egg hunts…I do love the city, don’t get me wrong, and it has been an adventure these (almost) 9 years, but my heart longs for a pace that’s a little bit slower, cousins that are closer, and memories made raising our children in the down home state I grew up in.

With that, I am off to nurse my sinuses with a double dose of nighttime Nyquil…..

Charlie *Hearts* You

Remember that sweet Mulberry St. outfit Charlie inherited from Dali? Turns out that the jumper is REVERSIBLE. One side Christmas, one side Valentine’s Day!! Lucky you!!

You’ll notice that Dali is also sporting her festive Valentine’s Day wares….

*Edited to Add: That is NOT Siena the cat passing by in the picture below, just in case you were wondering. No, that’s the family Beagle, Annie, making her appearance…*

Maximum Security

Little Owen is SUCH a heartbreaker!! He really is the most good-natured little boy…and he and Charlie hit it off famously. Owen is 8 months younger than Charlie, but they will most likely be in the same grade in school, which is really fun.

Uncle Evan and Aunt M’Em have this great “playard” set up in their living room that I wish I had had about 4 months ago!! Ah well, something to hope for as we dream of a bigger space….
