Charlie taps into her Inner Mommy

Charlie has two babydolls, one a Cabbage Patch Kid I bought for her months ago, and one a gorgeous Madame Alexander doll (the soft, huggable kind) that her Aunt M’Em gave her for her first Christmas. She hasn’t really played with them too much thus far, but this morning I pulled them out thinking she might. She was a regular little Mommy! She held them, and sang to them, and pushed them around in the shopping cart. It was too cute!!

The M.A. doll has eyes that open and shut when you lay her down, and Charlie was fascinated with that. She kept touching her own eyes and then walking over to me and looking at my eyes really closely. I wish for the life of me I could find the baby bottle that came with the CPK…but I have looked everywhere and it is nowhere to be found. Looks like I may need to buy her some baby items so she can take care of her little girls!!

70 degrees and Sunny

Thank the Lawd, it’s finally 70 degrees again today! I decided this morning that each and every sunny, beautiful day we get in Chicago is a precious commodity. I am going to take advantage, and as long as she’s willing, I am going to dress her every day, even if it’s just to hang out at home. Charlie has too many cute things to wear before September rolls around!!

This is a set that the amazing Mandy at Twist of Lime made for me. Gotta love Etsy!!

The Heebie-Jeebies

This morning Charlie and I met up with Emilyn and her Mommy, Ms. Kim, to check out the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, here in Chicago. We tried to capture the cutest pic of Charlie and Em holding hands, but every time we’d go to snap the pic, they’d run away giggling!!

We spent a little time in the “Mysteries of the Marsh” exhibit, checking out all of the “fishies” and bugs (including some huge cockroaches!!) and got a major case of the heebie-jeebies. Kim and I decided that we are definitely “Moms of Girls” vs. “Moms of Boys”!!

Power Strollering

Last week Charlie and I met up with her friend Lindsay and her Mommy, Ms. Megan, for some “power strollering” (a.k.a. power walking with strollers) and lunch at Einstein Bagels. On the way home we stopped at Trader Joe’s (the best grocery store ever) and picked up some balloons for the girls. As you can see, they love spending time together!!

Charlie’s Roadtrip

This past weekend Vann took Charlie to Indianapolis to meet up with his parents (Charlie’s Nana and JJ) and I stayed back to take care of some things at home. The report is that Charlie had a ball!! Here are a couple pics of Charlie and her Nana…

We usually drive to Tennessee for the 4th of July, but this year we won’t be able to make it due to Vann’s schedule of classes. Instead, we’ll be taking our roadtrip in August. We plan on dropping Charlie off with her Nana and JJ for five days while we travel to nearby Gatlinburg (home of the airbrushed tee) to stay at a family friend’s cabin. It’s beautiful and was built from the ground up with much love and care. Gatlinburg is a pretty touristy locale, but there are some great outlet malls around and it is a beautiful part of the country. Our main goal will be to relax, so we plan on stocking up on food and movies and enjoying the quiet before this new little one arrives in the Fall. We will most likely venture into town once or twice, but considering the heat of August and the crowds, our venture may not last long, especially with this prego. I should also say that I am looking forward to this trip because I make Vann stop at some “southern” clothing boutiques to hit up all the end of summer sales. Charlie has a closetful of smocked dresses from last summer that are ready to be worn as soon as the weather stops being so rainy and dreary. I call these shopping trips my “buy ahead extravaganzas”!!
