Swoon Part Deux

Perfect. Another fun side effect of pregnancy…heartburn. It just so happens that the Eggplant Parmesan I had for dinner (ready made from Trader Joe’s, sorry to disappoint you that I didn’t make it myself) is not sitting well. As I sit upright waiting for my Tums to kick in (yes, glamorous, I know) I thought I’d post a purely fun entry about a couple things I am currently swooning over.

Check out this GORGEOUS red coat from J. Crew:

I have been searching for an antique locket for what seems like FOREVER. I found this necklace on Danielle Steven’s website…this particular piece is a pendant, not a locket, but it has the FEEL of what I’m looking for…Pretty, eh?

Charlie vs. The Bouncey House

Saturday afternoon we visited our good friends the Westroms for their daughter’s bday party/housewarming/end of summer BBQ. We’ve never been to a party where there was a bouncey house, and let me tell you, Charlie could have stayed in that thing all day and all night. Vann captured some pretty funny pics of the inside (while I noshed and visited with all the other Mommies there)…little Miss Elynor (the birthday girl) is the sweetie in the green gingham dress. Sorry for the blurry pics…let’s just call them “action shots”!!

Oh, and one quick note: Charlie was practicing some pretty awesome somersaults in the bouncey house. Guess she DID learn something in her summer gymnastics class!!

A Quick Update…

Thanks for all the prayers and kind wishes in regards to my gestational diabetes “issue”. I’ve had a bit of good news in that it turns out my numbers were great last week and I don’t have to test my sugars (at this time)!! I’m a little confused because it sounds to me like I’m a lot more borderline this time, so I’m not even sure if the diet is a must…now, of course, I will follow it, as I want to do what’s best for the baby, but sometimes I wonder if this is just their way of being overly cautious. The good news is that it will keep my weight in check and I will have much less to lose after the baby is born. I am still ten pounds down from where I was with Charlie at this time!!

I have my 30 week check-up on Monday, so I’m hoping to pin a nurse down to find out what exactly is going on with my body. Only 10 weeks to go!!

Downtown Holland

Thursday morning we took the kids to downtown Holland and walked around. So many cute shops and I loved the small town feel. This toy store had a “castle” with a train in it, so you know the kids were drawn to it like bees to honey. We ended up picking up a pizza on the way home and got to eat in peace when the three of them got fussy…

After naps Charlie got a haircut (Ms. Jen was kind enough to give me one as well!) and we played until bedtime. It was a quick trip but SO worth the drive (which wasn’t bad at all; I was a little anxious about driving three hours by myself) and I am always thankful to spend time with my sweet friend and her little family. Thanks, Jernigan’s, for the getaway, we miss you!!!

The Critter Barn

Our first night we drove over to the Critter Barn, a petting zoo and real farm right down the road from Ms. Jen’s house. They had teeny, tiny baby bunnies and Charlie was so excited to pet one. We were the only people there, but I’m sure as the fall progresses, this place is a total zoo (no pun intended)…Ethan and Henry got to feed a horse AND the goats!! I admit, I really am a “mom of a girl” and kept Charlie in her stroller while the boys got down and dirty in the chicken coop…I call Charlie my girly-girl, but she’s really a bit of a tomboy, so you know that she’d much rather be IN the chicken coop than just looking at it. Of course, there are other moms of girls I know that are not fussy about this sort of thing. Oh well…maybe Baby #2 will be my girly-girl!!

Michigan

Our two days in Michigan were so renewing for our whole family! Charlie LOVED seeing her boys, and Ms. Jen and I were able to catch up and have some quality girl time. The boys have a great play room set-up and Charlie made herself right at home…
